Through our Alcatraz Gives Back program, we proudly support underrepresented communities across the Bay Area by offering complimentary tickets to qualifying local residents. 

This initiative aims to break down barriers and make the wonders of the Bay more accessible to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy them. Whether it’s a chance to explore the scenic views, connect with nature, or simply enjoy a moment of peace on the water, we believe that these experiences should be shared by all members of our community. 

By opening the door to these unforgettable experiences, we hope to inspire joy, foster a sense of belonging, and create lasting memories for those who call the Bay Area home. 

Residency and Eligibility

To qualify for our Outreach Program, residents must live in the Bay Area and meet specific eligibility criteria, including showing a valid ID with a local Bay Area zip code. Residents are eligible if they are participating in government assistance programs, as determined by the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPL) for California. Based on these guidelines, the following income limits apply:

• Individuals: $15,060 or less annually
• Families of Two: $20,440 or less annually
• Families of Three: $25,820 or less annually
• Families of Four: $31,200 or less annually

Individuals participating in the following government assistance programs are eligible, and proof may be required:

• CalFresh (SNAP): EBT Card
• Medi-Cal: Medi-Cal BIC (Benefits Identification Card)
• WIC (Women, Infants & Children): WIC Card (Nutrition Assistance) 
• General Assistance (GA) / General Relief (GR): Relief Payment Card

How to Book Your Complimentary Tickets

1. Complete the reservation process.
2. Once booked, you will receive email confirmation.

On the day of your cruise bring:

1. Your booking confirmation (printed or digital).
2. A valid ID with a local Bay Area zip code.
3. Proof of eligibility from one of the qualifying government assistance programs, such as an EBT card, or Medi-Cal BIC.

As part of our Alcatraz Gives Back initiative, we are thrilled to offer complimentary Bay Discovery Cruise tickets to all K-5 students enrolled in public and private schools within San Francisco. 

This Community Outreach Program is designed to provide young students with an unforgettable experience, combining education and adventure. From exploring the natural beauty of the Bay to learning about its rich history and significance, this cruise offers an engaging opportunity to spark curiosity and create lasting memories.

We believe that every child deserves access to amazing experiences, and we are proud to make it possible for local K5 students to connect with the environment and the heritage of the Bay Area. Join us in giving students the chance to discover, learn, and be inspired on the water! 

Who Qualifies? All K-5 students in San Francisco Public, Charter, Homeschool and Private schools are eligible for complimentary Bay Discovery Cruise tickets.

How it Works

1. Reserve your students complementary tickets
2. You will receive booking confirmation via email.

When you arrive for the cruise, check in at the ticket booth with the following: 

1. The booking confirmation (printed or digital).
2. Proof of your child’s enrollment in a San Francisco K-5 school (e.g., student ID, report card, or enrollment verification).

Important Information

• Accompanying Adults: All children under 18 must be accompanied by an 21 year old adult, and the adult is required to purchase a regular ticket. Tickets can be purchased here. 
• One adult can chaperone up to 9 students.
• Box lunches are available to order. Box lunch options are available for kids, offering a convenient and delicious meal to enjoy during the cruise. Each lunch is kid-friendly and includes a balanced selection of tasty and nutritious items.

Alcatraz City Cruises is thrilled to extend complimentary bus transportation to Title 1 San Francisco County schools as part of our Alcatraz Gives Back program. We understand that transportation can often be a barrier for schools planning field trips, and this initiative is designed to make it easier than ever for students to experience the magic of the San Francisco Bay. 

Through this program, schools can bring their students on an unforgettable Bay Discovery Cruise, where they will learn about the Bay’s stunning natural beauty, rich history, and unique ecosystems—all while enjoying an exciting day on the water. With convenient pick-up and drop-off at eligible locations, we’re making it simple for educators to provide their students with a meaningful and educational adventure outside the classroom. 

Alcatraz City Cruises is proud to support local schools and help students connect with the Bay Area’s incredible maritime heritage in a way that is both accessible and memorable. 

Who Qualifies?

• Title 1 Schools in San Francisco are eligible for free pick-up and drop-off transportation within the radius. Pick up and drop off location is limited to San Francisco county.
• First come, first serve: Space is limited, so we encourage you to book as soon as possible.
• Schools within a 3-mile radius of Alcatraz City Cruises are not eligible for the complimentary bus service.

Important Information

• This program operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. Submit your request as early as possible to secure your preferred date and time. We will confirm your transportation details once your request has been processed.
• Pick up will be 2 hours before departure time.
• Box lunches are available to order: Box lunch options are available for kids, offering a convenient and delicious meal to enjoy during the cruise. Each lunch is kid-friendly and includes a balanced selection of tasty and nutritious items.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation by the School:  

• More than 14 days before the tour: No penalty, but please notify us as soon as possible so we can offer the spot to another participating school. 
• 13 days or less before the tour: Alcatraz City Cruises requires a minimum of 14 days’ notice to cancel your reservation. If you do not cancel at least 14 days in advance, Alcatraz City Cruises may limit your ability to participate in our Outreach Program in the future. 

No-Show: If you fail to show up for the tour without prior 14-day notice, Alcatraz City Cruises will mark your reservation as a “no-show”. Alcatraz City Cruises may limit your eligibility for future bookings. 

Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule your Bay Discovery Cruise tour, please contact us at least 14 days in advance. Alcatraz City Cruises will do our best to accommodate your preferred date and time, subject to availability. 

Cancellation by Alcatraz City Cruises: If Alcatraz City Cruises needs to cancel or modify the tour due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or other unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you promptly and offer the option to reschedule or receive an alternative tour, when available at a later date.
